Overview of Practice Area / Department
The Employment team is 70 strong with 15 Partners and a strong presence in London, Leeds, Manchester and Bristol. We undertake a mixture of contentious and non-contentious work in the private and public sectors. Our public client base includes NHS Trusts, Strategic Health Authorities and education sector clients. Within the private sector, we act mainly for employers, covering PLCs, multi nationals, and privately owned companies. This particular role is based in the Manchester office. Our focus is on contentious and non contentious respondent employment advice, ranging from strategic advice to handling Employment Tribunal claims.
Core Responsibilities
You will be taking a leading role in the development of an health employment practice in the Manchester office and will be undertaking a varied workload of employment matters in the health and public sector. You will initiate and take part in marketing / networking activities in order to maintain and develop work from existing and potential clients in the health and public sector. Within this role you will also maintain and develop technical knowledge through attendance at training sessions, reading appropriate publications and exceeding Law Society CPD requirements.
Key Skills
You will ideally be of 5 years plus qualification with experience of working with clients in the health and public sectors, preferably in the North West and Midlands areas. You must have experience of tribunal work and be able to work independently on contentious and non contentious matters reporting to a partner or an associate as appropriate. You will be an independent thinker with a focus on generating solutions to problems on behalf of clients, as well as a confident communicator with an ability to develop relationships, undertake client marketing and influence at all levels, by being an enthusiastic team player with a flexible approach
